A vertical sand mill is a wet fine grinding machine with a vertical grinding chamber for material dispersion and ultra-fine milling. Driven by a rotating agitator, it stirs grinding beads to crush slurry particles evenly. This vertical sand mill features a compact structure and good heat dissipation, fitting factories with limited space. It works well for paints, inks, pigments and electronic materials, delivering stable fineness, easy maintenance and continuous high-efficiency production.
Space-Saving Vertical Layout
High-Torque for Dense Pastes (420-520 rpm)
Gravity-Assisted Dense Media FlowThe ZLLG vertical sand mill employs pin-type dispersion grinding for high-viscosity pastes (e.g. offset, letter-press, gravure, stencil inks). Dual rotor-stator cooling controls temperature rise, while 1.6-2.5mm grinding media achieve submicron fineness. Hydraulically-driven chamber volume adjustment enables low-load startup and real-time energy density modulation for challenging materials. 6000G magnetic filtration eliminates metal contaminants, and combined with three-roll mills, this vertical sand mill forms a complete multifunctional production line.

When dealing with high-viscosity, heavy-density pastes, manufacturers typically rely on large horizontal mills. However, when factory floor space is severely limited, fitting a massive horizontal high-torque mill into the production line is a major engineering headache.
The ZLLG Series vertical sand mill delivers a brilliant engineering compromise. It takes the low-speed, extreme-torque mechanics required for high-viscosity milling (420 to 520 rpm) and stacks them vertically. This not only slashes the installation footprint but also utilizes gravity to help feed heavy, sluggish pastes through the milling chamber, resulting in a highly efficient, space-saving heavy-duty grinder.

The vertical sand mill vertical orientation assists the downward or upward flow of heavy, non-Newtonian fluids that would typically struggle to push horizontally, reducing strain on external feed pumps.

Equipped with massively reinforced motors (up to 90kW on the 50L model) operating at deliberate, low speeds. It generates the necessary shear force to break down dense agglomerates without thermal overload.

This vertical sand mill achieves the extreme crushing power of a heavy-duty horizontal mill while occupying a fraction of the square footage, making it ideal for crowded, multi-level chemical plants.

Space-Constrained PlantsThe ZLLS operates at high speed (up to 750 rpm) and is designed for fast-flowing, low-viscosity liquids. The ZLLG vertical sand mill operates at low speed (420-520 rpm) with much larger motors, specifically designed to generate the extreme torque needed for thick, high-viscosity pastes.
Actually, it is often easier. Because the chamber is vertical, gravity assists in draining the heavy pastes out of the bottom discharge valve when the run is complete, leaving less residue inside compared to a horizontal chamber.
This vertical sand mill handles coatings, inks, pesticides and nano slurries. Its vertical structure reduces sedimentation of grinding media, delivering uniform fine grinding and stable particle size for water-based and solvent-based materials.
Our vertical sand mill takes less workshop space and has low media leakage risk. It adopts low energy consumption design, easy disassembly for cleaning, ideal for frequent color and material switching production lines.
Regularly check the mechanical seal and grinding media wear. Clean the grinding chamber after each batch, lubricate transmission parts weekly, and replace damaged liners timely to avoid equipment abrasion and performance drop.
